This week, Year 6 enjoyed a fascinating and thought-provoking visit to the Imperial War Museum as part of their history learning. The day began with the Documentary Challenge workshop, where the children worked in small groups to research and create short films about selected objects from the museum’s extensive collection. This hands-on activity helped them to think critically, work collaboratively, and communicate their ideas effectively.

Later in the day, the children took part in the We Were There workshop – a powerful and moving session in which they had the rare opportunity to meet veterans of various conflicts. The children listened intently to their stories and asked thoughtful questions, gaining a deeper and more personal understanding of the impact of war. It was a truly memorable visit that brought history to life and encouraged empathy, curiosity, and reflection.
