Anti-Bullying
At Bradshaw primary school, we are committed to creating a safe, caring and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported. Bullying of any kind is not tolerated, and we take all concerns seriously.
Bullying is defined as repeated behaviour intended to hurt, frighten or upset someone, often involving an imbalance of power. It can take many forms, including verbal, physical, emotional, online (cyberbullying), indirect or prejudice-based bullying, such as racism, homophobia, transphobia or bullying related to disability or special educational needs.
We understand that bullying can have a significant impact on a child’s confidence, emotional wellbeing and happiness at school. Our staff are trained to recognise the signs of bullying and respond quickly and sensitively. Children are encouraged to talk to a trusted adult if they are worried, and their views and feelings are always listened to and respected.
When a concern is raised, staff will work carefully with all those involved to understand what has happened and to put the right support in place. This may include restorative conversations, ongoing emotional support, working closely with parents and carers, and applying appropriate sanctions where necessary. All incidents are recorded and monitored to ensure issues are resolved and do not continue.
We place a strong focus on preventing bullying by promoting positive relationships, kindness and respect throughout school life. This includes assemblies, lessons, staff training, pupil voice activities and events such as Anti-Bullying Week. We also work closely with families and external agencies to support children who may be more vulnerable.
The policy also includes clear guidance on online safety and cyberbullying, child-on-child abuse and hate-related incidents, ensuring that concerns are managed appropriately and, where needed, with support from external services.
Our Anti-Bullying Policy can be found on our Policies & Reports page and provides further detail about our approach and procedures.
