At Bradshaw  Primary School, Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) is central to supporting children’s wellbeing, personal development and readiness for life. Our curriculum helps children to become kind, honest, respectful, responsible and active members of our school and wider community.

Through PSHE and Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED) in the Early Years, children are supported to build constructive, respectful relationships that enable them to play, learn and develop alongside both adults and their peers. As friendships form, children learn how to manage conflict and resolve difficulties with the guidance and modelling of trusted adults. Children are encouraged to recognise their own strengths and individuality, helping them to see themselves as valued and unique members of the school community.

In the Early Years, adults carefully model emotional language and strategies to support children in expressing and managing their feelings. Children are taught how to manage their own physical needs and to understand the importance of respecting others’ privacy. Developing resilience is a key focus, with children encouraged to persevere, overcome challenges and work towards their goals. Understanding routines, expectations and rules is embedded throughout daily practice, supporting children to feel safe, secure and confident.

As children progress through the school, PSHE continues to build confidence, emotional literacy and independence. Pupils learn how to form positive relationships, keep themselves safe, make healthy choices and show respect for diversity and difference. PSHE is delivered through a planned and progressive curriculum, assemblies, class discussions and enrichment opportunities, and supports pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development as well as British values.

We are proud to be a My Happy Mind school
